Use It or Lose It

Most people who know me well also know that I am a pretty big Seminole fan. Sometimes I'm a little too passionate when I'm watching the Noles play football. I recently came across a quote from coach Bobby Bowden that said "Don't go to the grave with life unused." With that said, we should ask ourselves how can we use what's left of our lives so that when we breathe our last breath here on this earth we can know we gave our all? The answer is simple WORSHIP GOD! Listen to what David says in Psalm 146:2 "I will praise the LORD all my life;I will sing praise to my God as long as I live."

For those of us who are Christ followers, this should be our desire. This is what we need to be most passionate about, not football or anything else. The key to all of this is surrender. Laying all that we have and everything we are at the feet of Jesus, walking in the light of Jesus, and having our hearts resonate with the heart of Jesus. That is the only way we can go to the grave with life lived to the fullest.

Everlasting Hope

As I watch television news, read the newspaper and listen to talk radio it doesn't take me long at all to realize that this world is in need of serious hope. Not temporary hope that the lottery or drug addiction may give and not false hope that the government offers. What this world needs is an authentic hope. One that never fades. Does such a hope exist? That seems to be the billion dollar bail out question these days.

On September 17, 1993 I found this everlasting hope. It was in the last place I was looking for it. I found it in the pages of scripture. Romans 15:4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Only God could give me this hope. That is exactly what He did when I surrendered my life to Him through the finished work of Jesus Christ.

For all of us who have found this hope, the question we need to ask ourselves is what are we doing with it. I believe it is a sin for us to keep it to our self. We most likely not going to change the world overnight, but we can start with our own circle of influence.

Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

God Is Great!!!

God is Great!!! When all is going well, God is great. When all seems lost, God is great. Our circumstances do not define who God is. He is great and He will always be. One of the definitions that Webster uses for the word great is "notably large in size : huge". God is definitely huge. He is bigger than anything and everything going on in our lives. In fact, He is bigger than life itself. No matter what comes our way. No matter how deep the mess is that we sometimes find our self in, we need to try to remember that God is always and will forever be GREAT!!! Psalm 95:3 says...For the Lord is a great God, a great King above all gods. For that reason alone, He is more than worthy of a life of worship that brings Him glory.

Springtime Tallahassee

Today was a fun day. Even though heavy rain was in the forecast, we decided to weather it out and head to the springtime Tallahassee parade. The rain held up and we had a great time. Here are some pics from our day.

A Day With My Girls

Today was a very special day. I had the day off and was able to spend the whole day with three of the best girls in the world. I had a great time. We took Ashlyn to have her three month pictures done and she was absolutely beautiful. She did so good. In fact all three of my girls did good. Afterwards we grabbed some lunch and then it was off to shop. Aubriana loves to shop. She does a good job helping mommy find bargains. She was in rare form and had Kim and I laughing most of the day. Speaking of laughing, Ashlyn has started laughing out loud and it is so sweet.

My girls are the greatest. It's rare that I get to hang out with them all day. It was a real treat and I soaked up every minute of it. I'm grateful for my girls. They are God's way of reminding me of how good He is. Which is way to good. I wouldn't trade this life for anything.

Born Again

John 3:1-3
Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him."
In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."

Today at Woodland Hills we began a teaching series entitled No One. The gospel according to Jesus. Within the gospels Jesus uses the phrase "No One" Six times. The Scripture above was the first one we discussed.

Now when I read this passage and especially the phrase "Born Again", for some reason I picture bible thumping, sign toting, megaphone yelling radicals. This is not what Jesus intended. Today in church we said that He was trying to communicate to Nicodemus and to us our greatest spiritual need. We must become brand new creations in Him and because of the complete and finished work of Christ on the cross we can.

It is my hope and prayer that you have placed your faith in Jesus. Then and only then can you become a new creation. (2 Cor. 5:17) Being born again is not what this world has labeled it. It's being free from the corruption, the poison and the penalty of sin. THANK YOU JESUS!!!

I'm not a bible thumper, I'm not a sign toter and I'm not a megaphone yelling radical. However, I am grateful and privileged to say that I am "Born Again"!!!

Love You, Bye Bye

Aubriana loves to say "love you, bye bye". She says it to just about anyone. Even complete strangers. One time we were in wal-mart and an older gentleman was taken away by our pretty girls. He stopped to chat with us for awhile. Our girls caused him to reflect on his own grandchildren. The conversation ended and as we walked off Aubriana yelled out her favorite phrase 'love you, bye bye. I leaned over and whispered to her " Aubriana were not suppose to love just anyone".

As the words came out of my mouth I thought actually we are. In fact, God commands it. Matthew 22:36-40 says "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Aubriana taught me a valuable lesson that day and maybe her example will be enlighten for you as well. Until next time...Love You, Bye Bye!!!

Girls, Girls, Girls

Let me start off by saying I love my girls. All three of them teach me so much. I have learned that I am very impatient. Nevertheless I enjoy being a daddy. When I look into Ashlyn's eyes I'm reminded that God is faithful. When I hear Aubriana say love you daddy I'm reminded that God is good. When I see Kim with our girls I'm reminded that God is amazing. Ever since I became a daddy God has revealed Himself to me in so many ways. I have such a long way to go. Right now I'm just enjoying the journey.
